New Zealand Government එක car driver licensing system (Class 1) එකට වැදගත් වෙනස්කම් කිහිපයක් introduce කරනවා.
මේ new changes සියල්ල 25 January 2027 සිට ක්රියාත්මක වෙනවා.
👉 එතෙක් (25 Jan 2027 වෙනකම්) current learner, restricted, full licence process එකම follow කරන්න වෙනවා.
🧑🎓 Learner Car Licence Changes – Learner Licence නව නියමයන්
🔹 Under 25 years – Learner period 12 months
ඔබ 25ට අඩු නම්, learner licence එක තබාගත යුතු කාලය
➡️ 6 months → 12 months වෙලා වැඩි වෙනවා.
⏱ Learner period එක අඩු කරගන්න පුළුවන්:
ඔබට learner period එක නැවත 6 months කරගන්න පුළුවන්:
✔️ Approved practical driving course එකක් complete කළා නම් ✔️ Supervised driving hours log කළා නම් (Maximum 60 hours – exact requirement තව finalise වෙන්න තියෙනවා)
👉 Required driving hours ගණන සහ approved courses, Director of Land Transport විසින් මේ අවුරුද්දේ පසුව announce කරනවා.
🔹 25 years and over – Learner period unchanged
ඔබ 25 හෝ ඊට වැඩි නම්:
➡️ Learner licence period එක 6 months එකමයි (no change).
🚦 Restricted Car Licence Changes – Restricted Licence නව නියමයන්
🔹 Under 25 – Restricted period reduced
25ට අඩු drivers සඳහා:
➡️ Restricted licence period එක
18 months → 12 months වෙලා අඩු වෙනවා.
❌ Advanced / Defensive driving course කරලා restricted period එක අඩු කරගන්න බැහැ.
🔹 25 and over – Restricted period stays same
25 හෝ ඊට වැඩි drivers සඳහා:
➡️ Restricted period එක 6 months (no change).
❌ Defensive or advanced driving course වලින් period එක reduce කරන්න බැහැ.
🚨 Demerit Points Impact – Demerit Points ලැබුණොත් මොකද වෙන්නේ?
Restricted licence එකේදී demerit points ලැබුණොත්:
➡️ Restricted period එකට 6 months extra add වෙනවා (every time).
📌 Example:
Under 25 driver කෙනෙක්ට demerit points ලැබුණොත් → Restricted period = 12 + 6 = 18 months නැවත demerit points ලැබුණොත් → තවත් 6 months add වෙනවා → Total restricted period = 2 years

Restricted practical test එකට දැන්
➡️ Hazard perception test (danger situations detect කිරීම) add වෙනවා.
👀 Eyesight Check – No Longer Required
Restricted licence ලබාගැනීමට ❌ Eyesight check අවශ්ය නැහැ Full licence ලබාගැනීමටත් ❌ Eyesight check අවශ්ය නැහැ
💰 Licence Fees – ගාස්තු අඩු වෙයි

Old fee: $98.90 New fee: $25.90 ✅ (Big reduction)
